The neighbourhood of Bronte Creek is excited to have it’s very own catholic elementary school St. Mary’s, located on Colonel William Parkway. The school was opened for classes on September 5, 2012, and has room for 589 students. Approximately 300 students and 30 staff members were present on the date of the grand opening. St. Mary’s catholic elementary school has been given a Ministry allocation of approximately $11.2 million.

St. Mary is a full day early learning kindergarten school. This feature was debated greatly prior to the school being opened, and has been included much to the delight of the residents of Bronte Creek.

As the community of St. Mary school begins, help from parents in the neighbourhood is very important. Assistance is needed to run hot lunch days, the milk program and the Walking School bus. If you are able to help in any capacity, please contact the school at 905 469 0038.

St. Mary also shares the distinction of being named in recognition of the very first Catholic school to open in the Halton Catholic District School Board in 1856. The original St. Mary School was situated on the grounds of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church on Reynolds street in Oakville and was founded by Robin Smith and Fr. Morgan Rex-Ryan. The original building was eventually demolished in order to make room for a growing parish community.
